a drive to the giant windmills, just because.../stompy boy boots/catching wrigglers/evening/my favourite people/...because she loves them

It was my birthday this week and I really have been spoiled by the lovely people, big and small, that I have in my life. Lovely times, tasty treats and super prizes for ME! Hahar. I had date nights with both Tom and my lovely friend Heather, a birthday breakfast out and lovely times wandering with my little loves. Perfect, really.

Matilda: Admiring the flowers. The left a sweet gift from our neighbours garden to you and the right a beautiful bunch from my lovely Ma-in-law. (Just because SHE is ace). I think I will forever and ever be in awe of those gorgeous curls, Matilda.

Matilda: Gathering leaves to make a nest for a little small wee bird. We draw and we cut and we stick and we write and we have been more and more and more this week. Your drawings are amazing. Lots of tulips and mermaids and bears and rainbows.

George: Yes we dance in our big boy pants!

Matilda: That cheeky face.  So excited to get your favourite dress on for school. I love it too.

George: Oh George, little monkey TurboGeorge. You are picking up new words rapidly at the moment, it is excellent. "Goo, Mammy! Gooo! Gooo!" Yes glue. Then you pulled a piece of paper from the drawer and began to stick the screwed up flower petals you had clutched in  your clammy palm to the paper with the goo. You really do love gooing.

A portrait of my children, once a week every week.
I loved Bijou and her beautiful flower crown last week.

Joining in with the lovely Jodi's 52 project.

I am thoroughly drenched, having walked with Matilda to Croileagan this morning and foolishly put my faith in the clearish skies. Silly, silly me... Autumn is here it seems, good and proper. I'm spending a quiet morning with my favourite boy (the little one), faffing about around the house and humming along to some of this before we go and collect our little big girl.

a small masterpiece

This is the first ever portrait of me, by Matilda. She even got my hair perfect, I had it up in a messy nest on top of my head (as I often do at home) and yes, I DO have orange hair all the way around and over my head. AND blue eyes and a funny face. Not so much the bright pink skin but I'll allow her a little poetic licence. I just wanted to share this little piece of pure joy (to me).
In other news, we've been spoiled with five whole days together as Tom managed to steal a little break away from his busy schedule at the Hotel and it has been perfect. Much overdue and very, very much appreciated. We had a date night on Friday, our first since last November, would you believe... It was SO much fun. Dinner and a play and a couple of cocktails. He's back to work tomorrow and we're going to miss him very much indeed.

This song got me through some chores this morning, it's good for wiggling along  to, I hope you like it too:
