Oh, blue sky days.

Friday 31 May 2013

This little isle of ours has more than it's fair share of storms, gales, rain and well... awful weather. I would say living here has really shown me what the elements can do . When the weather gets bad it's a case of batten down the hatches and hold on tight. Often on days like that the ferry won't sail and planes are disrupted, so shelves are bare in the shops and we may just be waiting for parcels that little bit longer though I don't mind a bit, most of the time. However, recently we're starting to see more blue skies and sunshine and it feels wonderful, I love how a change of season can lift you. We're having more beach trips and time spent in the garden, sewing seeds and preparing our little patch for veg and herbs to be to be grown. It does feel like it is going to be a lovely summer. We plan to make the most of it.

A MORNING WELL SPENT

Saturday 25 May 2013

We were up with the birds yesterday morning (well, we were ALL up, tired Daddy included), breakfast was scoffed and we were in the car and off to Back beach by about 8.30am. It is such a beautiful place, even in the wind and drizzly rain. Matilda's shoes and socks were off in a flash (as usual, though I managed to convince her to keep the rest of her things on, on this occasion, given the not so perky weather). Rocks were clambered over and some thrown into the sea, collectings were collected and my sleepy head was very much revived. I said to Tom, "The sea is very 'oceany' today." That may sound like nonsense but it was. Big and dark and churning, and beautiful.
