Matilda: Just having a moments rest on the way to the park, mostly to admire your new shiny, shiny shoes.
George: Poised and ready for action. Splatty, soupy action.
I really loved this shot of little Olive from last week. Such lovely light. And Bo's beautiful, big teary eyes.

hey, thanks nick drake.

I dug out a Nick Drake record from a very jumbled stash of music several weeks back and it has been on regular rotation since. I just love this (Matilda does too). It's my reliable quiet of the evening, chill down and think the day over music and good washing dishes and dreaming of elsewhere music of the moment. Just good.
What are you listening to just now?

washing lines in dewy light/gruffalo hunting we found no gruffalos but some tiny raspberries, we'll be back soon to pick them/George is off, again/the silliest carrots/ hello lizard/ rock pooling with Daddy/ garlic, mustard, cumin, ginger, garam masala, curry leaves and cinnamon
We're just starting to get used to a new routine here, what with it having been Matilda's first full week at Croileagan and so far it's going pretty well. We've also had some grumps hanging around with poor little George teething, hopefully soon he'll have some big teeth and will be finally able to eat an apple without chewing it into a thousand tiny pieces and spreading those thousand tiny pieces all over everywhere! But with rock pooling and playing in the garden, a good week all in all with some spectacular hebridean rain and wind interspersed with beautiful sunny august days... Just reminding us that autumn and winter will be here soon. I hope that you've had some beautiful days too.

Matilda: Shiny new red shoes. I crept up on you as you were nibbling on pomegranate on the back step.(Not so photo happy were you today...) I think both you and George's most favourite ever snack. Especially if you get to whack the bejeebers out of it to get the bits out.
George: Look at that little face. I mean really... I am head over heels for this little boy.
A portrait of my children, once a week every week and joining in with Jodi's lovely 52 project.

garden green and tasty (...and swampy and weedy too)

Our lovely scruffy garden is definitely a work in progress but the children couldn't care less. Knee high weeds are a jungle to them and I'm certain they preferred it when I hadn't yet planted up the veg patch, they had a mud garden to squelch about in. It's a joy to pull the odd gnarley treat from the ground, though. I'm day dreaming of having a croft and a few animals one day. A donkey and a goat, top of the list. Donkeys are my favourite.

Matilda and George playing beds on the sitting room floor a couple of afternoons ago. Today has been one of those funny stop-start, no George nap, teething and a bit all over the place kinds of days but with (just) enough of those lovely hilarious moments to keep us all going. And look at them, simply the best.

Matilda: The new school year started on Thursday and with it you began a full time spot at Croileagan. From now on each and every weekday morning we walk together to Stornoway Primary School and then meet again for lunch. I've been feeling in equally full measures; sentimental, proud and excited for you.
George: Here, I was just about forgiven for putting beetroot on your plate. You were VERY unhappy with the situation. You're so funny. It's lovely to have some time with you while our big girl (who insists she is absolutely not big) is busy at school.

Play dough warm from the pan feels good on small tummies and chasing kittens is endless fun. Matilda and George obviously have each chosen their favourite kitten friend already. George slows down for gentle cuddles (between trying to carry his Rumpus around by her head/tail/ears) with clumsily careful holding hands. Bouncing on the bed and eating tasty treats. I loved slowing down with my two today.
